Everything You Should Know About VIN

What Is A VIN?

VIN, short for Vehicle Identification Number, is a unique identification sequence given to every car when they are manufactured in the United States and many other countries. These codes are like fingerprints for vehicles and are used to unlock crucial information about them.

A VIN is a 17-character sequence containing both numbers and letters. The letters Q (q), I (i), and O (o) are avoided in these codes so that they will not be mistaken for numerals 9,1, and 0. Each character in a VIN has its own meaning, and the VIN is broken up into different sections. Decoding the VIN will help to keep track of problems, changes in ownership, and deter theft.
